Derby is like fight club, if your not a part of it, there really is no explanation for it, but if you are,you absolutely understand how important this has become to you life.

The Gulf Coast Rollergirls as a team originally formed in August 2009, we started out in Orange,Texas as a flat track roller derby team playing by WFTDA rules. Following a reformation and reorganization, the GCRG as a team name was changed to a league name, and merged with the newly formed Lafitte's Ladies flat track team in Lake Charles, La.

Flash forward to 2011...
While the League plays by WFTDA rules, We plan on becoming wftda apprentice by the end of 2012. Conversely, the Swamp Zombies play by the Banked Track standard rules, WORD. The premiere flat track team, the Lafittes are not only our travel team, but they also play home games against visiting teams. We also have the Mission UnBlockables, the resident home team. They don't travel, but several members have been known to fill in for the Lafittes, it's also the place for girls who want to derby for fun but not competitively on the road. Additionally we have the Hurricane Belles, who have the dual purpose of not only being the training team for new recruits, but also for league members who need to get their skills up to speed, and the place for injured skaters to rehabilitate. Eventually it will also be a home for retired skaters to keep their bodies and skills sharp.

But that's just the flat track side of GCRG, we're Bi-Traxxual...
Yes..Flat and Banked Track..Get your mind out of the gutter!!
We are staunch supporters of the Banked Track Restoration Society, and we strive to bring Louisiana their very own 1st banked track team ever, the Swamp Zombies, rolling on their own track by the 2012 Season, bringing back the glory of derby the way it used to be played!! In preparation for that day, the Zombies regularly guest skate on SSRD's Banked Track in Texas City, Texas..

Coming soon..MEN'S DERBY!!
Flat or Banked Track, Men or Women... we have a common goal... DERBY DOMINATION!!
